WAAST Prayer Guide – April 24, 2022

This week pray for THE EXTENSION CENTERS IN THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO (DRC)

The center in Kinshasa, established and led by a couple who graduated from WAAST in 1997, has grown into three centers: one offering day courses at the main Assemblies of God Bible school campus, a second offering evening classes at a local church, and a third on the AG Bible school campus in Lubumbashi, the DRC’s second city. The centers total 96 students, including 2 from Congo-Brazzaville and 1 from Central African Republic. The Kinshasa day center also offers Master’s-degree courses, with 11 students enrolled. Students from the interior and from other countries stay in the dorm on campus, but more dormitory space is needed, especially for married students. Over the past 20 years, more than 200 students have passed through this center, and at least 60 current students are planning to come to Togo to complete their studies later this year. Alumni serve in national and regional church leadership, as pastors and church planters, Bible school teachers and directors, youth and children’s workers, in media and compassion ministries, and in outreach to less-reached people groups.

Please pray

  • for health and provision for students, especially for those from the interior, whose churches struggle to support and send them;
  • for projects to improve the infrastructure: a new dorm for married students and the installation of a solar system to provide electricity during the frequent outages;
  • for God’s provision for students traveling from the centers to Togo in August;
  • for those who serve in the restive northeastern regions of DRC, where dozens of terrorists groups operate. May the Lord use these pastors and their churches to share Jesus and meet needs of those who have been displaced or live in fear in their own homes. Six million people in DRC are displaced, most of them in these regions.
